Cool Record Edit Pro can record a microphone, system playback or both. Use the microphone for your voice or an attached input device. Use system playback for sound being played by the computer. Select both when your recording needs commentary alongside computer sound.

1. Check the Devices
Connect the microphone or interface you intend to use before recording. Check that Windows and the app have selected the intended device. If computer sound is playing through headphones or a different output, make sure the recording source corresponds to that playback route.
When recording voice and playback together, headphones help reduce sound from speakers entering the microphone again. Close or silence unrelated applications if you do not want their sounds in the recording.
2. Make a Short Test
Speak or play a representative part of your source while watching the live level meter. Adjust the source level if it is too quiet or repeatedly reaches the top of the available range. Record a short sample, stop and listen before beginning a long session.
A moving meter is useful, but a playback check confirms that the expected source is actually present. If the test is silent, recheck the selected device, its Windows level and microphone access where relevant.
3. Record and Review
Start recording, perform or play the material, then stop when you have what you need. Review the beginning and ending in the editor. Keep a little surrounding audio while checking boundaries; you can remove an unnecessary lead-in afterward.
4. Finish Your Audio
Trim pauses, add a short fade or use appropriate repair processing if the recording needs it. The editing guide walks through those steps. Save a separate finished file and keep an original recording when possible.
