Start With the Video You Want
Cool Youtube Video Downloader reads the formats available for a supported online video and converts your selection into a local file. The important distinction is between the source you download and the output you save: choosing an HD source does not automatically choose MP4 output. Set both before starting the job.
Use a video you own or have permission to download. A public link is a useful starting point, but website support and available formats can change. Keep the original page address so you can check the source again if a download fails.
1. Add the Full Video Link
Open the Windows app and choose Add YouTube link. Paste the complete video address and let the app read its details. Review the title and duration to make sure you have added the intended video. Adding the link reads metadata; it does not yet download the video or audio media.
For one video, leave playlist expansion off. If you deliberately add a supported playlist, review the resulting items before converting. Unavailable items may be skipped with a warning rather than appearing as successful downloads.
2. Choose Available Source Quality
In the link dialog, choose an available source format and the audio track you want. Look at the resolution actually offered by the source. A higher output resolution cannot restore detail that the original video does not contain. If the source only offers a lower resolution, select a suitable option instead of assuming that an HD preset will improve it.
The source-format selection controls what is downloaded. The main window controls the file created afterward. This distinction also matters for audio: select the correct source track before choosing the final output.
3. Select MP4 and a Destination
Add the source to the queue, then choose MP4 from the output targets. Review the output quality and destination folder. Keep the source proportions unless you intend to crop or reshape the picture. Make sure the destination has enough free space for the download and conversion.
Choose Convert now. The app downloads pending sources and processes them in queue order. A source must be downloaded before local editing and sample playback become available. You can then use Edit / Trim if you only need part of the video.
4. Check the Finished File
Use Open output folder to locate the completed MP4. Play the beginning, a point in the middle and the ending. Check that the picture, audio track and duration are what you intended before removing any source copy.
If a file with the same name already exists, the app chooses an available name instead of silently overwriting it. Look for the completed file rather than a temporary file from an unfinished conversion.
If the Download Does Not Finish
Check the original page, your connection and the error shown by the app. Help provides a download-module update option when a supported website has changed. An update may restore compatibility, but it cannot grant access to private or subscription content. For a sign-in message, read the login-required video guide before retrying.
