When a Video Requires Login

The current downloader does not use your browser login. Here is what to check and what you can do instead.

Quick Answer
  1. The app cannot use your browser login.
  2. Use the source website’s own download option.
  3. Ask the owner for an accessible file or link.
  4. Import a permitted local file for conversion.

What the Current App Supports

Cool Youtube Video Downloader supports online sources that its download module can access. It does not read browser cookies, saved logins or browser profiles. It does not provide a username-and-password workflow for private or login-only media, and it does not unlock subscriptions or protected content.

Earlier versions of this page described entering a website username and password. That guidance does not apply to the current Windows release. Signing in to a website in your browser does not automatically sign the downloader in to that website.

Check Why Sign-In Is Required

Open the original address in your usual browser and read the message on the page. A private video, a members-only item, an age check, an expired link and an unavailable upload can produce different access problems. Identify the actual message before changing download settings.

A page that plays while you are signed in may still require account-specific access. The downloader cannot inherit that access. Do not paste an account password into a video URL field, and do not send your password to our website to resolve a download error.

Choose a Supported Way to Save It

  1. Use the website’s own download option. If the service offers a download for your account or for a video you uploaded, follow its provided workflow. That option handles the service’s own access requirements.
  2. Ask for an accessible source. If the owner has agreed to share the video, ask for the original media file or a link intended for downloading. A normal media file can be processed locally without signing in to a website.
  3. Use a supported public link when one exists. Add the full address through Add YouTube link, inspect the source formats and choose your output. A public page is not a promise that every site or video will work.

Separate Access Errors From Module Errors

A supported public video can fail when the website changes. Check whether the same item remains available on its original page, then read the app’s error and diagnostics. Help includes a download-module update option. After an update, retry the same supported source rather than repeatedly changing unrelated output settings.

Changing MP4 quality, choosing a different output folder or switching to an audio format does not remove a login requirement. If the source still needs account access, use the website’s own supported download method. An updated module is a compatibility tool, not an account-access feature.

Work With a File You Already Have

Once you have obtained a local video through a supported method, you can add it to the app’s conversion queue. Choose MP4 for a video copy or a supported audio output for a listening copy, then select a destination and convert. Keep the original file and check the result before replacing any copy.

If your goal is simply to choose HD quality for an accessible source, the HD MP4 guide explains source selection and final output separately. This is the relevant workflow for the current free downloader.

Questions About This Task

Why does the video play in my browser but fail here?

Your browser may be signed in. The current downloader does not read browser cookies, saved logins or profiles, so it cannot inherit that access.

Can I enter my username and password in the app?

The current release does not provide the old login-only download workflow. Use the original website’s supported download option instead.

Will updating the download module unlock a private video?

No. Updates address website compatibility; they do not grant permissions or bypass account, subscription or protection requirements.
